WILLS AND EXECUTRIES
____________________
An executry is the process of administering an estate after someone dies. The will appoints executors, who are the people you choose to make sure your wishes are carried out, and they distribute your assets to the right people. We are very experienced in this area and will give executors and families as much help as they need. We can deal with the whole process or simply advise from time to time.
At Stuart & Stuart we will always keep the executors and family advised of what is happening and will deal with the whole process as quickly, efficiently and cost effectively as possible. We can also deal with the administration of trusts. For example, someone due to benefit under a will may be below the age you have selected for him or her to inherit. In that case your selected trustees (usually the executors of the will) will retain the inheritance until the child reaches 16, 18, 21 or even older.
Trusts can also arise in various other circumstances, e.g. with inheritance tax in mind or if a potential beneficiary is incapacitated in some way. We can advise whether a trust is appropriate and what sort of trust would be most suitable in your particular circumstances. The firm is regulated by the Local Society of Scotland in the conduct of incidental financial business and we are, therefore, well placed to give advice about dealing with executry and trust investments and also related areas such as inheritance tax planning, investment of legacies and so on. |
